THIS IS A SKATESPOT

Social Design, Graphic Design & Photography (2025)
Project Overview
What does Eindhoven look like through the eyes of a skateboarder?

This is a Skatespot is a design-driven exploration into the visibility of skaters in the urban landscape, and how their stories often remain unseen. The project reveals a dialogue without engaging in it directly. It invites a new perspective on how skaters shape the city, bring it to life, and give new meaning to forgotten corners. At the same time, it taps into Eindhoven’s identity as an urban city.

This design was exhibited in the main hall of Eindhoven City Hall from June 3 to June 12, 2025.
Why postcards?
In this series of layered postcards, what normally remains invisible is made literally visible. At first glance, the cards show recognizable locations in Eindhoven, but as soon as you pull the card out of the envelope, a skater appears in the scene.

You now see two different images of the same location, revealing the contrast between two versions of the city. On the back, the skaters share what the spot represents for them.

By sharing these cards with others, the image quite literally spreads throughout the city—exactly what is needed to preserve these unique places for skateboarders. A small gesture, with great significance.
